In the last 6 years I have figured out that there is one huge factor in a successful business which is having a partner in crime. Meaning a business partner that you can share the business with, this would include activities personal and business related from having a beer, lunch, idea inspiration and just someone you can consult with.
You might ask yourself, is it best to bring in a friend that I can trust or a stranger? Well this really depends on your majority and genre of friends, honestly it does! You might be thinking and asking yourself what the hell am I talking, well it is very simple. I grew up in the ghetto and came from a family with not a lot of money, my friends around me were typically the same but why does this matter? Well one good reason is most of the people around me, living around me and that I went to school with just plain generally don't care; most of them were trouble makers and some where even into drugs.
Now I'm not saying all my friends are losers and don't have anything going for them but in a business aspect and as someone that can't go a day without thinking about his future I have to bring up the subject. The fact that bringing a close friend into the picture in my case is a big big mistake, no I have not done this I have come close but for the most part was a huge waste of time on my part.
Then there are the friends that are reliable, smart and have something going for them but convincing them to join your firm or business is not an easy task. The main reason why, yep you got it...economy and reliability. Is this friend going to come in and how long is it going to take for the business to actually be successful and pull in a huge profit so you both can sit on the beach and drink margaritas. Well for any business owner this is a wish they want to happen sooner than later and I'm living proof of this.
What about people from school or social functions that you have met. For me I have been so busy building my business empire in the last 6 years I haven't had time for school. If I needed to learn something I would open a book and have the same things I could have learned in 3 months done and learned in 3 hours. Socials groups is another one which I have also tried, I have attended meetings and events of all kinds to meet members. For the most part you find 2 kinds of people at these meetings, the first is the self inspired person that has something going already and is just at the meeting for friends. The other is the typical 9-5 worker that is there for friends and to fill their time because they are bored or to feel special in a club or group.
You then turn away from all the above and point your sights at saying no to everyone and that you don't need a business partner. You then go at it by yourself....Well folks plain and simple you will succeed faster in your life and business if you do have a partner. I've had this frame of mind for the last year and a half and honestly it has gotten me nowhere. Then you ask yourself, should I just give up altogether and something will fall into place, no this doesn't work either because I have tried this as well.
Until recently I have figured out who the best business partner is and I knew this from the start. Yes an investor; someone that is willing to put money into your company so they and you can succeed and make more money. In an economy like this and our greedy society this is the plain truth. Don't follow in my steps and waste 6 years trying to do everything on your own and have the thought that you don't want to share your hard built business with someone; because it will get you nowhere. Jump out there, meet investors, go to groups and it will happen. If your business model and idea is good enough an investor will be your best friend or at least give you some capital so you can hire that partner you have been looking for. Most people that are willing to take the jump, whether friend or stranger need that reliability blanket to leave what he or she is doing and jump into your business firm.
